Heather Ferreira is the executive producer and creator of Sunshine Again. A Portuguese-American, she was born Karen McCoy in Camden County, New Jersey, and made a legal name change because the name 'Karen McCoy is Irish-American, and she is not.
Ferreira grew up watching all the best-known educational children's TV shows of the 70s and in 1999 noticed the best of them was no longer focusing on her generation as parents of young viewers. "Brighter, faster, louder" seemed to be these kids' shows' new mantra. Ferreira believed the Gen-X audience might want today's children's shows to look and feel more retro, in order to share the good times of a 1970s childhood with their own children today. Building a team, she began producing demo versions of shows to do that. Now Sunshine Again is known in America, Canada and the United Kingdom. From its humble public access beginning, now the show is produced in New York and has built a loyal Generation X audience eager to share it with their youngsters.
Heather resides and works in the Metropolitan New York area, and is a devoted fan of the New York Mets.
